Steel, as the primary building material, is explored in the project's early stages. The design of a one-room building is used as a medium for studies. The unique properties can be strong and thin at the same time while remaining flexible in creating forms.
An architect’s studio with a desk, a chair and a daybed is designed. Starting from repeating the steel fins, a spatial rhythm is observed. The massing form is designed to build a sense of home while considering the public-private relationship with open, semi-open, and enclosed walls.
The movement of the folding steel plate is recorded. The idea leads to form an overall dynamic design that one could encounter diverse spatial experiences approaching the building from different sides. The idea continues to be explored in the design of infill buildings.
